  • Closing of SIETTA 2023: Minister Souleymane Diarrassouba invites manufacturers to invest more in cashew processing 04/10/2023

    On behalf of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Promotion of SMEs chaired the closing ceremony of the 4th edition of the International Exhibition of Cashew Processing Equipment and Technologies (SIETTA), the Saturday April 8, 2023 at the Palais de la culture in Treichville. An opportunity for Dr. Souleymane Diarrassouba to invite manufacturers to invest in cashew processing. "I make an urgent appeal to all national and international economic operators who are still hesitant to take the step towards cashew processing", he invited, before assuring them of measures of support guaranteed by the States, to offer the best conditions for cashew processing. To this end, he recalled that in Côte d'Ivoire, the Government has adopted 3 important measures within the framework of the Cashew Processing Development Program. This has helped boost the cashew industry in this country. These are the granting of cashew processing subsidies to local processing units, through the signing of 37 agreements between the State and operators; an investment of more than 107 billion CFA francs of support for the improvement of the value chain, as part of a project to promote the competitiveness of the cashew value chain (PPCA), financed by the World Bank and the granting of additional tax and non-tax incentive measures to local industries, through an agreement with the State. The implementation of these measures resulted in 2022 in a processing rate of 21.8% of the national production of raw nuts, i.e. a volume of raw nuts processed of more than 224,000 tons against 40,383 tons of raw nuts in 2016. In the implementation of the PPCA project, three agro-industrial zones are being developed, including that of Korhogo, which is ready to accommodate cashew nut processing units, while those of Séguéla and Bondoukou are more than 70% completed. Organized by the Cotton and Cashew Council from 06 to 08 April 2023, the 2023 edition of the International Exhibition of Cashew Processing Equipment and Technologies took place around the theme ''Contribution of the cashew industry to the resilience of African countries in the face of global economic challenges”.
